What makes an Umrah package from London cheaper or more expensive?
Five things move the price more than anything else:
- Travel dates. Ramadan, the last ten nights of Ramadan, UK school holidays and the Christmas break push up both flights and hotels. Quieter months cost less.
- Room sharing. A quad room shared by four people costs far less per person than a double room for two.
- Hotel distance from the Haram. Hotels a short walk from Masjid al-Haram or Masjid an-Nabawi cost more than those further out with a shuttle.
- Flight type. A direct Saudia flight from Heathrow usually costs more than a connecting flight via Istanbul, Doha or Dubai, but saves several hours.
- Extras. Meals, private transfers, the train between Makkah and Madinah and guided Ziyarat all add to the total.
If you are looking for cheap Umrah packages from London, the biggest savings usually come from flexible dates, a connecting flight and a quad room, rather than a lower-rated hotel.
What’s Included in Our Umrah Package from London
Every standard Umrah package from London with Haram Zone Travel includes:
- Return flights from London to Saudi Arabia (direct or one-stop, depending on the package and dates)
- Checked baggage as set by the airline on your ticket
- Hotel accommodation in Makkah and in Madinah for the nights shown
- Help applying for your Saudi visa
- Airport transfers in Saudi Arabia and road transport between Makkah and Madinah
- UK support from enquiry to your return
What is not included
So there are no surprises, these are not part of a standard package unless your quote says otherwise:

- Meals, unless your hotel rate includes breakfast or half board
- Ziyarat tours of historic sites, which can be added on request
- Vaccinations and your meningitis certificate
- Transport from your home to the London airport
- Personal spending, Zamzam water allowance beyond the airline limit, and Qurbani
Flights for Umrah from London
Direct flights: Saudia flies non-stop from London Heathrow to Jeddah, taking around 6 hours. This is the quickest way to start your Umrah from London, and Jeddah is roughly an hour or more by road from Makkah depending on traffic.
Connecting flights: Many lower-cost packages use one-stop flights via hubs such as Istanbul, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Amman or Cairo. These can leave from Heathrow, Gatwick and other London airports, and some land in Madinah, letting you start your trip at Masjid an-Nabawi instead. Total journey times are longer, often 9 to 14 hours including the connection.
Tell us which London airport is easiest for you and we will quote the options that fly from there. Flight times and routes are set by the airlines and can change, so we confirm everything on your ticket before you pay in full.
Getting from Makkah to Madinah
Your package includes road transport between the two cities, which is around 450 km. Some pilgrims prefer the Haramain High Speed Railway, which links Makkah and Madinah in a little over two hours; ask us if you would like train tickets added.
Choosing Your Hotels in Makkah and Madinah
For most pilgrims, hotel distance matters more than the star rating. Walking to the Haram five times a day is very different from relying on a shuttle, especially for elderly parents or young children.
Tier | Who it suits | What to expect |
3 star | Budget travellers, younger pilgrims, groups sharing rooms | Clean, simple rooms; often further from the Haram, sometimes with a shuttle |
4 star | Most families and couples | More comfort and usually a shorter walk; a good balance of price and location |
5 star | Elderly travellers, those wanting minimal walking, special occasions | Hotels close to the Haram, larger rooms, often breakfast included |
The best Umrah package from London for you is the one that fits your budget and your stamina. Our 5 star Umrah packages from London suit people who want to step out of the lobby and be at the Haram within minutes. If you are fit and flexible, a 3 or 4 star hotel lets you put the saving towards a longer stay.
We name your hotels on your quote before you book, so you can check their location and reviews yourself.
Umrah Visa, Nusuk Permit and Documents for UK Travellers
Short answer: British citizens need a Saudi visa and a Nusuk Umrah permit to perform Umrah. According to the UK Foreign Office, Umrah can be performed outside Hajj season on Saudi visas including the tourist eVisa, and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah requires pilgrims to book an Umrah permit through the Nusuk app before entering Makkah.
Visa rules are set by the Saudi government, not by us, and they do change. We help you apply and check your details, but we cannot guarantee a visa will be approved. Always check the latest position on the Saudi eVisa portal and the FCDO Saudi Arabia entry requirements page before you travel.
What you need to provide
- A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date you arrive in Saudi Arabia
- A recent passport-style photo (digital is fine)
- Proof of meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY) vaccination, which the FCDO lists as an entry requirement for Umrah pilgrims
- Names and dates of birth for everyone travelling, exactly as shown on their passports
The Nusuk Umrah permit
The Nusuk app is the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s official platform. Once you have your visa, you book a time slot for your Umrah in the app. Separate bookings in Nusuk are needed to pray in the Rawdah at Masjid an-Nabawi. We can show you how to do this before you fly.
2026 to 2027 Umrah season dates
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has published the 1448 AH season calendar. Umrah visas have been issued since 31 May 2026. The last day for Umrah visa issuance is 9 March 2027, the last day to enter the Kingdom is 23 March 2027, and pilgrims must leave by 7 April 2027. If you are planning Ramadan 2027, book early.

When Is the Cheapest Time for Umrah from London?
The cheapest Umrah from London is usually outside Ramadan, outside UK school holidays and away from Christmas and New Year. Ramadan, especially the last ten nights, is the most expensive period of the year, and February half-term and Easter also see higher fares from London.
For low cost Umrah from London, aim for term-time weeks and stay flexible by a few days either side. Booking two to three months ahead usually gives a better choice of hotels near the Haram. Last-minute packages are possible, subject to availability, but options are more limited.
Remember that Umrah pauses around Hajj season, and the current season closes for new entries on 23 March 2027.
Umrah from London for Families, Elderly Parents and Groups
Many of our London pilgrims travel as families, often with parents or grandparents. A few things make a real difference:
- Location first. For anyone who finds walking hard, pick a hotel close to the Haram, even if it means a smaller room.
- Wheelchairs and assistance. Tell us at the enquiry stage so we can request airport assistance with the airline. Wheelchairs and pushers are available at the Haram.
- Room set-up. Triple and quad rooms keep families together and reduce the cost per person.
- Children. Children travel with a parent or guardian and need their own passport, visa and Nusuk permit.
