Group Umrah packages put a set of pilgrims on the same flights, in the same hotels in Makkah and Madinah, and on the same transfers, all under one booking. Haram Zone Travel arranges group Umrah for mosques, extended families, friends, colleagues and women travelling together from across the UK. You tell us your dates, how many of you are going and how close to the Haram you want to stay. We put the flights, hotels, visa support and ground transport together, and the person organising the group has one point of contact with us from the first quote until everyone is back home.
Our Umrah group packages run for 7, 12 or 15 nights, with the split between Makkah and Madinah agreed with you before anything is booked.

What is a Group Umrah Package?
A group Umrah package is a single booking that covers travel, accommodation and transport for several pilgrims performing Umrah together. Everyone in the group travels on the same dates and usually stays in the same hotels, and one person, the group organiser, deals with the travel agent on behalf of the others.
People sometimes call it an Umrah group tour, but the rituals themselves are the same as for any pilgrim: ihram, tawaf, sa’i and shaving or trimming the hair. What changes is the logistics. Rooms, seats and transfers are booked as a block, so the group moves together and nobody is left sorting out their own airport taxi in Jeddah at two in the morning.
Bringing Your Own Group or Joining One?
“Umrah packages with a group” can mean two different things, and it’s worth knowing which one you need before you ask for prices.
| Private group (you bring the people) | Joining an organised group |
Who travels | Your mosque, family, friends or colleagues | You join other pilgrims on a set departure |
Dates | You choose them | Fixed by the departure |
Hotels | You choose from the options we quote | Set for the whole departure |
Best for | Groups who already know each other and want control over the details | Individuals or couples who want company and a set plan |
Who Our Umrah Groups Are for
Mosque and Community Groups
Mosque groups are often the largest and include people of very different ages and fitness levels. We work through the committee member or imam leading the trip, so individual travellers aren’t chasing us separately for updates. If your mosque runs a trip every year, we can quote this year’s dates against last year’s arrangements so it’s easy to compare.
Extended Families
Three generations travelling together is one of the most common group bookings: grandparents, parents, children, cousins. Larger families usually need a mix of room types and an itinerary that works for both a ten-year-old and a seventy-year-old. If it’s just your own household, our family Umrah packages are set up for that kind of trip instead.
Friends and Colleagues
Smaller groups of friends or work colleagues often travel in the UK holidays and want a short trip that fits around annual leave. A 7-night package split between Makkah and Madinah is the usual starting point.
Ladies’ Umrah Groups and Women Travelling Together
Women can travel together as a ladies’ Umrah group, whether that’s sisters, friends, or a women’s circle from a mosque. Rooms are shared only between members of the group, and the group can stay in the same hotel throughout.
On the question of a mahram: the Saudi authorities announced in 2022 that women no longer need a male guardian to perform Umrah, and women of any nationality can apply for the visa on their own. That is the Saudi rule. Whether travelling without a mahram is religiously permissible is a separate question, and scholars and schools of thought take different positions on it, so many women in a female Umrah group in the UK choose to ask their own scholar before booking. We arrange the travel either way; we don’t give religious rulings.
Older and First-time Pilgrims
Groups are a sensible way for older relatives or first-timers to travel, because there is always someone around who knows the routine. Tell us at the quote stage if anyone uses a wheelchair, struggles with stairs or long walks, or needs a ground-floor or lift-close room. It affects which hotels we suggest, especially in Makkah, where some hotels that look close on a map sit up a steep road from the Haram.
What’s Included in our Umrah Group Packages
Every quote we send lists, in writing, what is included, what can be added and what you’ll pay for separately. Here is how it normally breaks down.
Included as standard | Available on request | Not included |
Return flights from your chosen UK airport Hotels in Makkah and Madinah, named in your quote Umrah visa processing support Airport transfers in Saudi Arabia Transfer between Makkah and Madinah UK-based support before you travel | Ziyarat in Makkah and Madinah Room upgrades or a closer hotel Extra nights in either city Meal plans | Travel insurance [VERIFY] Vaccinations and medical costs Meals not in your hotel package Personal spending, Zamzam and gifts Excess baggage beyond the airline allowance |
A Note on “All Inclusive” Group Umrah Packages
“All inclusive” has no fixed meaning in Umrah travel. Some agents use it to mean flights, hotel and visa. Others include meals, Ziyarat and transfers. Before you pay any agent, ask for the inclusions and exclusions in writing and compare them line by line. That’s why ours sit in the table above rather than behind a single label.
How Much Do Group Umrah Packages Cost?
The price of a group Umrah package is quoted per person and depends mostly on your travel dates, your hotels and how many people share each room. Group size helps too, because flights and rooms can be held as a block, but dates and hotels make the bigger difference.
What affects the price | Why it matters |
Travel dates | December, Easter, the summer holidays and the last ten nights of Ramadan are the most expensive periods, because UK school breaks and Saudi demand peak together. |
Hotel and distance from the Haram | A hotel facing the Haram can cost several times more than one a 10 to 15 minute walk away. |
Room sharing | Quad rooms (four sharing) give the lowest price per person. Triple, double and single rooms cost more each. |
Nights in each city | Makkah hotels usually cost more than Madinah hotels of a similar standard, so the split changes the total. |
Flights | Direct flights cost more than connecting ones. Your departure airport matters too. |
Booking time | Groups that book early have a better choice of seats and rooms together on the same flight and floor. |
Choosing room types for a group
Room type | Who it suits |
Quad (4 sharing) | Friends, ladies’ groups and mosque groups keeping costs down |
Triple (3 sharing) | Small families or friends who want a bit more room |
Double (2 sharing) | Couples within a larger group |
Single | Anyone who needs their own room; the most expensive option per person |
Most groups end up with a mix. Agree who is sharing with whom before you ask for a final quote, because it changes the price for everyone.
Payment by instalments is available on our packages, so group members don’t all have to pay the full amount at once.
Group Umrah in peak seasons
Group Umrah bookings follow the UK calendar. These are the periods where groups need to plan furthest ahead.
December and the Christmas break
With schools and many workplaces closed, the Christmas break is one of the busiest times of year for UK pilgrims, and group December Umrah packages need flights and rooms held together early. Our December Umrah packages page covers this season in more detail.
Ramadan
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin in early February 2027, subject to the moon sighting. The last ten nights are the most in-demand dates of the whole year, and hotels close to the Haram fill quickly. If you’re planning a Ramadan Umrah group package, the first conversation should happen months before, not weeks.
UK half-terms
October and February half-terms suit families and groups with school-age children. Because each local council sets its own term dates, check every family’s dates before fixing the group’s.
Summer holidays
Summer is popular because of the long school break, but temperatures in Makkah and Madinah regularly go above 40°C. For groups with older members, we often suggest doing tawaf and sa’i late in the evening or early morning and staying closer to the Haram. See our August 2027 Umrah packages for summer dates.
The Hajj period
Umrah travel for pilgrims without a Hajj visa is paused for several weeks around Hajj each year. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announces the exact dates, so we check them before quoting any group travelling in that part of the year.
Flights and UK departure airports
Most of our group Umrah packages in the UK fly from London, Birmingham, Manchester or Glasgow, landing in Jeddah or Madinah. Flying into Madinah first and leaving from Jeddah (or the other way round) saves a long road transfer on one leg, and we’ll suggest whichever works better for your dates.
Group members don’t have to fly from the same airport. A mosque group in the Midlands might fly from Birmingham, with relatives in Scotland joining from Glasgow and meeting everyone at the hotel. Pilgrims in the Midlands can find more on our Umrah packages Birmingham page, and those in Scotland on our Glasgow Umrah packages page.
Hotels in Makkah and Madinah
You can choose your hotels. We quote options at different distances from Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi so the group can decide where to spend and where to save.
When an agent says a hotel is “walking distance”, ask for the actual distance in metres and whether the route is flat. In Madinah most central hotels are on level ground around the mosque. In Makkah, some hotels are close in a straight line but up a hill or through a tunnel, which matters a lot for older pilgrims doing the walk five times a day. We tell you this in the quote, not after you arrive.
For larger groups, we try to keep everyone in one hotel. Rooms may be spread over more than one floor, which we’ll confirm before booking.
Umrah visa and travel documents
British passport holders can currently travel for Umrah on a Saudi visa applied for through official channels. The rules on visa types, passport validity and vaccinations are set by the Saudi authorities and do change, so we check them for every group at the time of booking. Before you travel, read the GOV.UK travel advice for Saudi Arabia and the official Nusuk platform.
What we need from each group member:
- A clear scan of their passport
- A recent passport-style photograph
- Vaccination certificates where required
- Details of any non-British passport, since other nationalities may follow different visa rules
We handle the visa processing for the group, but approval is decided by the Saudi authorities, not by us. Visiting the Rawdah in Masjid an-Nabawi needs a separate permit booked through the Nusuk app, and we can walk group members through it before they travel.
How to Book a Group Umrah, Step by Step
- Send us the basics. Rough dates, number of travellers, departure airport or airports, how many nights, and whether you want to be close to the Haram or keep costs down. Mention anyone with mobility needs.
- Get a written quote. We send named hotels, room types, flight details, and what’s included and excluded.
- Confirm and pay the deposit.
- Collect documents. The organiser gathers passport scans, photos and any other documents from each member.
- Visa processing. We submit the applications and update the organiser as they come through.
- Final payment and travel pack. Once everything is paid, the group receives flight tickets, hotel vouchers and practical information for the trip.
- Travel. We stay in contact before departure and while you’re in Saudi Arabia.
Tips for the person organising the group
- Keep one list with every name exactly as it appears on the passport. A spelling mismatch can hold up a visa or a ticket.
- Collect passport scans early. Expired or nearly expired passports are the most common reason a group member has to drop out.
- Settle who is sharing rooms before the final quote, not after.
- Set one payment deadline for everyone a week or two before ours, so a late payer doesn’t hold up the whole group.
- Set up a group chat and agree to a fixed meeting point at each Haram, such as a numbered gate, in case someone gets separated.
Support before and during your trip
Our UK team is here to help from your first inquiry until you get home. Before you fly, we help with your quote, visa guidance and travel documents. While you’re in Makkah and Madinah, you can contact us if anything changes with your flights, hotels or transfers. You’ll find our opening hours, contact details and the latest updates on our Google Business Profile.
Why Groups Book with Haram Zone Travel
Haram Zone Travel is a UK company that arranges pilgrimage to Mecca from the UK for individuals, families and groups. For group trips, what we offer is simple:
- Affordable group packages. Quotes are built around the hotels and room sharing your group chooses, so you can balance comfort and cost.
- A choice of hotels. Options at different distances from the Haram, with honest notes on the walk.
- Flights arranged for you. From the main UK airports, with split departures where your group needs them.
- Personalised assistance. One contact for the organiser, from quote to return.
- Flexible planning. 7, 12 or 15 nights, your choice of Makkah/Madinah split, and Ziyarat added on request.
Many people start by searching for the best Umrah travel agency UK pilgrims recommend and end up comparing headline prices. For a group, the better comparison is what each quote includes, which hotels are named and who you’ll actually speak to when something needs sorting.
