October Holidays Umrah Packages 2026 from the UK
Our October holidays Umrah packages are built around the UK school half-term, which runs from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026 in most of England and Wales. A 7-night package leaving on Saturday 24 October gets you to Makkah and Madinah and back home before school starts again. Each package includes return flights from the UK, help with your Saudi visa, hotels in Makkah and Madinah, and airport transfers, with every hotel named in your written quote.
Half-term is the busiest week of the autumn for UK families, so hotels close to the Haram go first. If you’re travelling this October, your meningitis ACWY jab needs to be done at least 10 days before you land in Saudi Arabia.

When is October half-term 2026 and how does Umrah fit into it?
October half-term 2026 is Monday 26 to Friday 30 October in most of England and Wales. With the weekends either side, that gives families nine days away from school, from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November.
Dates aren’t the same everywhere, so check with your child’s school before you book:
Area | October break 2026 | What it means for Umrah |
Most of England and Wales | 26–30 October | A 7-night trip from 24 to 31 October fits without missing school |
Scotland (e.g. Glasgow City) | 12–16 October | Already under way. Look at late October dates for adults travelling without children, or plan for 2027 |
Some English councils and academies | Can differ by a week | Always confirm with the school, not the council website alone |
How to fit Umrah into half-term: Leave on Saturday 24 October and come home on Saturday 31 October. That’s 7 nights on the ground, with Sunday to rest before school. If you want 10 nights, you’d need to leave on Wednesday or Thursday the week before, which means two or three days of school.
Taking children out of school for a longer trip
In England, schools only grant term-time leave in exceptional circumstances, and unauthorised absence can lead to a penalty notice of £80 per parent, per child, rising to £160 if it isn’t paid within 21 days. Many families avoid this by keeping to a 7-night package inside half-term.

How much does an October half-term Umrah cost?
An October Umrah package from the UK is priced per person, and the price you pay depends mainly on whether you travel in the half-term week itself. Adverts for October Umrah often start at £650–£750, but those prices usually apply to flexible dates outside half-term with quad sharing. A 4-star or 5-star package in the half-term week, close to the Haram, commonly costs well over £1,000 per person.
What moves the price:
Factor | Effect on price |
Travel dates | Half-term week costs the most. The first half of October and November are usually cheaper. |
Walking distance to the Haram | Hotels a few minutes from the mosque cost more than ones 10–15 minutes away or on a shuttle. |
Room sharing | Four sharing a quad room pay the least per person. Doubles cost the most. |
Number of nights | 7 nights costs the least in total. Longer trips lower the cost per night. |
Departure airport | London usually has the most flights. Regional airports can cost more or need a connection. |
Direct or connecting flights | Direct flights are faster but often dearer in half-term. |
How early you book | Fewer flights and near-Haram rooms are left as half-term gets closer. |
What makes an October package cheaper
If price matters most, these choices have the biggest effect: travel outside half-term if your household isn’t tied to school dates, choose a 3-star hotel a little further from the Haram, share a quad room, and take a connecting flight. A cheap October Umrah package is still a full package, so check that flights, visa support, hotels and transfers are all named in the quote.
Paying for your October Umrah
You secure your booking with a deposit of £100 per person and pay the balance before your departure. You can also spread the cost in monthly umrah installments. Booking conditions, including cancellation charges, come with your quote so you can read them before paying anything.
What is the weather like in Makkah and Madinah in October?
October is hot in Makkah, with average daytime highs around 40°C and nights around 26°C. It’s cooler than July to September, when highs average 42–44°C, but it’s much hotter than a UK summer. Madinah is a few degrees cooler, at around 37°C by day and 23°C at night. Rain is rare in both cities.
City | Average high | Average low | Compared with November |
Makkah | About 40°C | About 26°C | November averages about 36°C / 23°C |
Madinah | About 37°C | About 23°C | November averages about 31°C / 18°C |
Long-term climate averages. Actual temperatures vary year to year.
What this means for your trip:
- Do Tawaf and Sa’i after Isha or before Fajr. It’s cooler and usually quieter.
- Carry a refillable bottle. Zamzam water is available throughout both mosques.
- Use an umbrella and sandals with good soles. The courtyard marble stays warm after dark.
- Plan rests for older parents and young children. A hotel close to the Haram saves a long walk in the midday sun. Ask us about shorter walking distances when you enquire.
Is October a good time for Umrah?
For most UK families, yes. October half-term gives you a full week without missing school, the heat is easing compared with summer, and it’s well away from the Ramadan peak, when prices rise sharply. The trade-offs are the half-term price premium and the fact that it’s still very hot.
Why October works | What to plan for |
Fits a 7-night trip into the school holiday | Half-term week costs more than other October dates |
Hotter than winter but cooler than summer | Daytime heat around 40°C in Makkah |
Away from Ramadan and the Christmas holiday peak | Near-Haram hotels fill early for half-term |
A good first Umrah for children before winter exams | Only one week, so longer trips mean missing school |
October Umrah from London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow
Most October Umrah flights from the UK land in Jeddah, about 75 km from Makkah, which suits doing your Umrah first. Some routes land in Madinah, so you visit the Prophet’s Mosque first and travel to Makkah afterwards, entering ihram at the Miqat on the way.
From London
London Heathrow has the widest choice of direct flights to Jeddah and connections through the Gulf. Gatwick and Stansted options usually connect. See our Umrah packages from London for flights and prices across the year.
From Manchester
Manchester has direct flights to Jeddah on some carriers, with other routes connecting through the Gulf or Istanbul. Flights and hotel options are on our Umrah packages Manchester page.
From Birmingham and Glasgow
From Birmingham and Glasgow, October flights usually connect through a hub, although some seasonal direct services run.Tell us your nearest airport and we’ll compare the options in your quote.
What you need before you fly: visa, vaccine and Nusuk
Haram Zone Travel arranges your flights, hotels and transport and helps you apply for your visa. The visa itself and the rules on entry are set by the Saudi authorities, and they can change, so we check them again when you book.
- A passport valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry.
- A visa. GOV.UK says UK travellers can perform Umrah outside the Hajj season on a Saudi eVisa or an Electronic Visa Waiver. If you hold a non-UK passport and live in the UK, your options may differ, so tell us your nationality when you enquire. No travel company can guarantee a visa.
- A meningitis ACWY vaccination certificate, given at least 10 days before you arrive. Saudi Arabia requires it for Umrah. The conjugate vaccine used in the UK is accepted for 5 years.
- The Nusuk app. Your Umrah and your visit to the Rawdah in Madinah are booked as time slots in Nusuk. Download it before you go and we’ll show you how to book your slots.
- Travel insurance that covers your full trip and any medical conditions.

Travelling with children, older parents or a group
October half-term is when many families take children for their first Umrah, and when adult children bring parents. A few things make the week much easier:
- Ask for the walking distance in minutes. For older parents or anyone using a wheelchair, this matters more than the star rating. Tell us about mobility needs when you enquire and we’ll suggest hotels to match within your demands.
- Children need their own visa and vaccine certificate. They also need their own passport, including babies.
- A quad room usually works best for a family of four. It’s also the cheapest per person.
- Travelling together as a mosque, family or friends? Our group Umrah packages are set up for larger bookings with shared transport.
How to book your October Umrah
- Send us your dates and airport. Tell us who’s travelling, their ages, and any mobility needs.
- Get a written quote. It names your flights, hotels, walking distances, room type and total price.
- Pay the deposit to secure your seats and rooms. We can’t hold anything until the deposit is paid.
- Send passport details so we can help with your visa application.
- Get your ACWY jab at least 10 days before arrival and keep the certificate.
- Pay the balance by the due date, or in installments if that’s part of your plan.
- Receive your travel documents with flight times, hotel vouchers and contact numbers.
